A new journey and update on Summer Projects ;)

So, I know you've been dying to find out how the Bennett crew has done on their summer projects. I'm here to tell you that we're coming right along!  I can't exacty remember what all I said we were going to do, but here's a list of what we HAVE done :)

Tyler has a new twin loft bed w/appropriate mattress and is enjoying it!  It took over 5 hours to put together!  It was a birthday present from Nana and Grandaddy!  He loves it!  It's a space saver in the room and he's growing into being a "big boy"!

A retaining wall has been built around our well head area.  Landscaping is still underway, but the hard part is finished.  Big thanks to Gary for all of his help!  We couldn't have done it without him!

Travis installed over 130 feet of gutter shields! yay!!!  No more gardens growing in our gutters :)

We toured the Southeastern US and had a blast!  I didn't run the peachtree rd race this year...but there is always next year  :)  I really think it was for the best. Travis ran and did great!  He finished in just over an hour. He's now training for a half-marathon in November.  I'm pretty sure he's lost his mind.

Travis turned 35 and we had a great get together at the house!  What fun!!

While we were out of town we had 2 pine trees removed from our front yard!  That was a HUGE task!  Thanks to Richard for all of his hard work and taking care of things while we were out of town. It was so nice coming home to this project already completed :)

I've only read 3 books this summer which is not near as many as last summers total of 15, but my 1st and 3rd books were a bit longer than my usual reads, so I feel like that has been part of the slow pace.  I am going back to my quick paced books now, so I should be able to knock out about 3 more before school starts. Also, I have about 3 weeks less this summer so that definitely has an impact on the number of books I get to read.  I don't read much during the school year.  Too much math going on :)

And last but not least...my new journey that I am embarking on.  Of course, I've done this before, but I am hoping this will be the last time!  I re-joined weight watchers.  I am using the on-line community this time.  I am a lifetime member, but they changed the program and so now I am relearning all of the great stuff!  I am 10 days in and I have lost 3 lbs.  It's not bad at all.  I can pretty much eat whenever and whatever I want...maybe not as MUCH as would like....but I just have to decide if the point value is worth the short taste satisfaction.  The other major part of this weight loss plan is joining Curves.  If you haven't heard of it, it's a womens gym with crcuit training.  It's a 30 min workout with aerobic and strength training.  Personally, I enjoy it.  I get in, get it done, and get out.  My kind of exercise.  My heart is pumping and I'm sweating and I feel good afterwards.  I am definitely not the target audience for this place.  I a little embarrassed to say that the majority of the members are over 65 :(  or are trying to loose over 100lbs.  Not really my peer group, but I'm not really there to socialize :)  I'm excited to see the inches and pounds come off. My goal is to loose 25 lbs.   Should be a neat experience and you'll get to read all about it right here!!

Summer is winding down.  Tyler starts kindergarten ACADEMY on Monday, July 25th.  It's a 9 day program from 8-1130 am that introduces him to the routine of his new school.  I can't believe it's so soon!!  I go back full time on August 4th!  I hope to be about 10lbs thinner by then :)

We still have a few projects to finish around the house...but overall, I'm satisfied with our summer.  It has been short and sweet.  Stay tuned as the new school year begins and our lives take on a different pace.  I'm not ready for the change..but hopefully, we'll ease right into a routine and not have too much trauma in the process!

Feet

Have you ever thought about feet?  For some reason I think about them often.  I apologize in advance for the frivolity of this post...but I just need to get some stuff off of my mind :)  Enjoy!

Feet:  everybody has them....well most people.  Anyway...they are pretty crazy features of our bodies.  What I am most concerned with is the care that goes in to feet.  Have you noticed that Walmart devotes almost an entire isle to "foot care products"  It's CRAZY!  There are creams, scrubs, exfoliates, special inserts for shoes, soaking salts, foot spas, etc.  But, despite all of these products, most people do not care for their feet very much.  I haven't even gotten to the part about women paying tons and tons of $$ to beautify their feet in spas and pedicures, etc.  That's all in ADDITION to regular home foot care.

Now, I realize that writing this is going to cause major scrutiny of my feet, but let me warn you....they are NOT anything to brag about.  I try to care for them, keep the toes a pretty shade of red or pink, and even get the occasional pedicure at least twice in the summer and once in the winter.  But seriously, to have the kind of feet that I dream of I would need round the clock foot care!  In the summertime when we are wearing open toe shoes and flip flops all the days and nights we can, it takes a toll on those precious appendages.  Heels become cracked and raw, callouses form, it's just plain awful.  Let me stop right here and say that if you DO NOT have this problem....don't tell me! Keep doing whatever you're doing and don't EVER take those beautiful feet for granted!!  I have gone to such lengths as to rub my feet down in vaseline and wrap them in socks and zip-lock baggies over night to try to get beautiful results...to no avail!  I would need to moisturize my feet every hour (which is pretty much impossible to do) if I wanted to have the foot luxury that I dream of.

If you haven't ever thought this much about feet, I hope that you will now :)  It's very important to have proper foot care!  I think people think about feet more than they want to confess.  Why else would photographers focus in on cute little baby feet for pictures?  Feet were meant to be enjoyed!

I will continue to work on my foot care and I hope that maybe you will take the foot care challenge and strive to maintain better looking feet!  If you need help, please seek a professional to get you started.  Many times it's easier to maintain pretty feet, rather than achieve them yourself.  Especially if you wear a lot of sandals :)  It's the least you can do!
